Affordable Counselling and Psychotherapy: £35 Per Session
We know that cost is still one of the main deterrents which stop people from accessing counselling/psychotherapy. HDC aims to offer affordable counselling as an option for people who feel they would benefit from therapy, but are not able to afford one-to-one sessions.
An effective way of doing this is via Group Therapy. This can happen by grouping people who, after an initial assessment session, are considered suitable for working with one another.
Some groups are designed to work on a specific type of issue (depression, obesity, anxiety attacks, addiction, etc) whilst other groups have as a focus more general issues (such as how to develop a way of dealing with life, lack of self-esteem, loss, etc)
Sharing our problems with others might sound intimidating at first, but group therapy provides some benefits that individual therapy does not.
It is not a simple ‘coincidence’ that we can often help others, but more rarely are capable of being as effective when dealing with our own problems. This happens because it is much easier to see things in perspective, offering genuine empathy, and avoiding the harshness we normally offer ourselves, when our own hurt feelings are out of the equation. Group therapy teaches us how we can look at our own problems in a healthier way, by observing how sound is our understanding of other group member’s realities… If we can see objectively when we are helping others, we can certainly do that for ourselves too – it is just a matter of learning how.
OTHER BENEFITS OF GROUP THERAPY A genuine feeling that we are not the only ones going through issues Diversity of backgrounds and points of view More support Sharing of coping strategies
We only work with very small groups, therefore offering a higher quality service.
